Specifications
The Luzon locking knife was designed by COLD STEEL President Lynn C. Thompson in collaboration with Mike Wallace. The knife gets its name from the largest island in the Philippines, Luzon (LOO-ZAHN). The shape of the Luzon is inspired by several balisongs in Lynn's personal collection, but its design as a classic closing knife makes the Luzon a proper alternative for areas of the world where balisongs cannot be legally carried or owned. The blade of the knife is made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel which after heat treatment exhibits a hardness of 57-58 Rockwell. Due to the shape of the blade, the knife is designed primarily for stabbing, but due to the concave, domed, shape of the blade's belly, the knife cuts very well. The handle of the knife is inspired by the shape of bamboo and is made of fiberglass nylon with GFN markings. The shape of the Luzon handle allows for a comfortable grip in multiple positions. The knife is equipped with two locking latches for added safety. The blade is secured by a linerlock safety against spontaneous closing, as well as a secondary safety mechanism that is extremely impact resistant when engaged. The Luzon is available in two sizes. In both cases, the Luzon is fitted with a hole for the safety cords. The Luzon is an inexpensive but practical pocket clip for EDC.
