The new Recon Tanto continues to redefine the standards for combat knives. Cold Steel's most distinctive combat knife in the SK-5 blade design is an economical but highly effective variant of these iconic knives. The Tanto blade was adopted from Japanese knives. Compared to its Japanese predecessor, the American Tanto has a reinforced secondary blade to prevent damage when chopping harder materials. The Recon Tanto has applications in military and police forces around the world. In the last 20 years, the Recon Tanto has been involved in many war conflicts as part of the equipment of the intervening forces. The blade of the knife is made from Japanese SK-5 high carbon steel traditionally used for the manufacture of a wide range of hand tools including chisels and wood saws, drills etc. The steel exhibits high toughness, holds its edge very well and has great abrasion resistance. The blade is also treated with Black Tuff-Ex™ anti-corrosion coating. This is a similar material to Teflon. The perfectly shaped Kraton (Long Kray-Ex™) knife handle offers a non-slip surface. It fits perfectly in the hand and allows even very delicate knife handling in wet and muddy environments. The knife comes with a Secure-Ex sheath to protect you and the blade.
